If you still need convincing that golf is fashionable in Japan, check out the newest trendy boutique, Hollywood Golf, in the chic Aoyama shopping district.
Hollywood Golf features the T-Line Rosasen line-up of golf wear, a fashionable alternative to the standard less then exciting golf attire. With thousands of wannabe pros shelling out big money to swing Callaway like Momoko Ueda or sport Le Coq Sportif like Sakura Yokomine, the brand-name golf business does well in Japan.
According to the shop manager, the most popular items among the mostly young women who have visited the new shop are the colorful polo shirts trimmed with ruffles and the brand’s signature skull with golf club cross bones.
While none of the pros have been spotted wearing the brand yet (um, I think you have to sponsor them first), the future success of the boutique among young women was secured by a mention in hit-maker magazine An An this month. In fact, some of the cute accessories might actually inspire a few women to pick up the game.
